• Thursday, October 19 the Athletic Booster Club is hosting a Field of Dreams Banquet to raise money for our outdoor athletic renovations. Students who have been selected to serve at the event need to report to Ms. Hance's room Wednesday during KNIGHT TIME. Coach Frye will send out a list to all staff so you know who will be missing from your mentoring group.

• Library and coffee shop is closed today for makeup ACT testing for SENIORS. Please be quiet around the library during class changes today as well.

• Any students who owes time for time or make up work from the first nine weeks must be finished with that by this Friday. That is the absolute deadline!

• Pink Week activities will be during lunch this week. would like to have a friendly competition between teachers to help raise some money for the Pink Knights' contribution to the Laughlin Foundation. Please encourage your kids to donate their spare change all week and then I will count each cup and the winning teacher will get doughnut holes for all of their classes.See the signs posted around the school for more info. • Ms. Walker is so proud of the Band Students for their Performance at their first 2017 Competition! They received a rating of Excellence! Way to go guys!

• Faculty meeting today at 3:15 PM and CDHS volleyball starts tournament play this evening. Good luck ladies!
• PINK OUT Football game is October 6 with the Annual Balloon Ceremony. Pink Week activities will be during lunch the week after fall break, October 16-20. See the signs posted around the school for more info.
• October 3 ACT DAY SCHOOLWIDE
o Students please remember to bring a couple of number 2 pencils for the ACT and other activities. Also, please bring a calculator if you are able even a basic one will be to your advantage.
o October 3 at 7 PM Fall Chorus Concert
• October 4 SENIOR TN PROMISE MEETING IN THE AUDITORIUM 10:30 AM and Chic Fil A Academy will meet from 3-4:30!
• October 4 is also midterm testing day for 3rd and 4th periods, and October 5 is midterm testing for 1st and 2nd periods. October 6 is the midterm make up day.
• The last home soccer regular season game is Thursday, October 5, which is also senior night, and Shriners Game. There will a dinner in the café after the game. If we have any students or staff members, who were/are Shriners patients, Mrs. Ricker and her team would love to include you in the nights events.
• October 6 is the end of the first 9 weeks. All missing work, make up work, etc. needs to be turned in by Friday!
• October 7-15 is fall break! Everyone returns to school on Monday, October 16. Enjoy!

• · Ananias had a great few days at the golf course. He finished in 8th place in the state. That will get him named to A-AA 2017 All-State team.
• · Thanks to our Leadership Team for staying late to discuss some tough issues we face: chronic absenteeism and grades. We appreciate you!
• · Thanks to our homecoming committee for their work in making this week a huge success. We appreciate you!

Announcements:
• The theme for the Homecoming game is a Blackout! Dress in as much black as you can! We will be throwing powder on Friday before the game. We are asking that you wear a white shirt over your black shirt and we will take the white shirt off while the powder is in the air. We need to have a big student section there to show Black Knights of the past and future how awesome it is to be a Black Knight!
• Tonight at 6 PM we have mock homecoming, powder puff football game, and the KNIGHTING CEREMONY. The concession stand will be open so bring your parents and enjoy a great evening at the Black Hole!
o Homecoming dress up days:

o Homecoming shirts are for sale during lunch and in Coach Catron's classroom. Shirts are $10.

• · The audition results are in and Mrs. Short would like to give a huge shoutout to Sophomore Soprano, Gracie Blaylock whose audition was superior to place her in the 2017 All-East TN Women's Choir and to Senior Alto Julia Peacock for having an excellent audition to place her as 2nd alternate in the 2017 All-East TN Mixed Choir. Mrs. Short would also like to give a shout out to Ms. Leifert for helping the students with constructive criticisms during their mock auditions last week; your musical knowledge is appreciated!
• · CDHS Student body for your awesome behavior during the assembly yesterday. You were most respectful and even Blake McMeans and his rep were very complimentary of your behavior.
• CD soccer beat a quality Daniel Boone team 7-0 led by a 4 goal offensive performance from Caleigh Norton. Brooke Morgan had 1 goal and 3 assists, Erica Lamb had 1 goal and 2 assists, and Lena Merrill 1 goal. • Cross-country tore the course up this weekend at Fenders farm. Nearly every one beat their personal record on Saturday.
• CDHS Black Knights football came away victorious Friday night with a 48-0 win over NGHS. This week is another important game when we host SGHS Friday. The Army Parachuting team will be here to parachute in to the field and deliver the game ball prior to the 7:30 PM kick off.

• Today September 12 is National Concussion Awareness Day called Team Up Speak Up. PT Solutions has a partnership with The Concussion Legacy Foundation who are great resources for concussion education and research. They have come up with this date to education athletes and parents across the nation about the importance of reporting concussions and being treated the right way. We appreciate our Athletic Trainer Kasey Blankenship who takes very good care of our student-athletes!
• September 15 is the next club Friday and picture make up day for seniors and underclassmen.

Shout out to senior class for a great senior meeting. You were respectful, came up with great senior service project ideas, and took leadership of your time. Also shout out to CDHS FFA for earning several awards and $700 in prize money at the Greene County Fair this week.

• Seniors: turn in your locks today to Mr. Thompson as you leave. Mr. Thompson will be at the door to the student parking lot where you sign out and turn in locks.

• Grade cards can be picked up Wednesday, May 24 between 8-10 AM or bring in a self-addressed stamped envelope and we will mail it to you.
• Any student that has medication in the office, please have a parent/guardian come by to pick up any extra. Students are not allowed to take medications out.

This is a good time for Juniors to retake the ACT while everything is still fresh on their minds. Great opportunity for the Sophomores to take the test and see what it is like, plus they can order their test to study afterwards. Freshman it is never to early to start taking the ACT. • Yesterday in softball action, the Lady Knights defeated South Greene Lady Rebels 10 to 6. It was the annual Pink game for cancer and Sr day where Sayde Sutherland and Taylor Campbell were honored before the game. Sayde and Bug scored 2 runs each, Chelsea Ball and Kali Bacon also scored 2 runs. Bug, Ball, and Chelsea Emmette had 2 hits each. Tomorrow is the 1st round of District tournament, game time is @ 5 weather permitting.
• Choir members who eat 12:30 lunch shift will eat at 12:00 on Thursday. All choir members report to the choir at 12:30 on May 4.

· The Black Knight Soccer Team improved to 4-1 in district action last night with a 7-0 shut out road victory over the Claiborne Bulldogs. It took just 4 minutes for the Black Knights to find the back of the net after a sweet pass from Brendan Shipley that Brian Alvarez gathered and poked past the keeper for the early 1-0 CD lead. Alvarez ended the night with a hat trick while teammates Brendan Shipley, Troy Phillips, Sergio LaPorta, and freshman Cayden Phillips added individual goals. Phillips notched his first career Black Knight goal in the 31st minute of the game. The Black Knight defensive unit earned its 5th shutout of the season while CD keepers Justin Gregg and John Fann combined for the win in goal.
o The Black Knights, 5-3 overall, host non-district foe Daniel Boone Thursday for a 6:00 kickoff.

March 21 is ACT testing for juniors...it is a graduation requirement and guidance has signed you up already. Be prepared...it matters... everyone except seniors are expected to be at school on time and all day long. There is no early checkouts tomorrow.

o At the Mock Trial competition this past Saturday, Chuckey-Doak High School competed up against teams that coaches/lawyers have been doing Mock Trial for many years and the won 3 out of 4 rounds. After a last minute roster change, Chuckey-Doak place 4th and Katie Crane got 2nd Best Witness. This years Mock Trial consisted of Tiffany Walker, Nathina Correll, Katie Crane, Justin Cornwell, Jace Teal, and Sarah Bobadilla. Only three members had been to competition before and Chuckey-Doak is the only Greene County team to be participating in Mock Trial. Congratulations on a great job.

• Last night our Greene County School Board approved the CDHS Outdoor Athletics facility project Phase 1 which is removing the old press box and bleachers and replacing with new ones. You can see the entire project on our webpage, which includes things like adding lights to our soccer field, up grading our soccer practice field, softball and baseball fields, adding a walking trail around the CDHS campus, and eventually adding a regulation track.
• Your staff has been busy this year planning many things for CDHS including renovating our library space into a Maker Space. You can google it and see the many different avenues this could take. We are also working on our master schedule for next year and adding some electives as well as creating paths to graduation for students and parents.

o Shout out: Congratulations to Katelyn Anguish represented CDHS at the TN State High School Swimming & Diving Championship at the University of TN Knoxville. She placed 33rd out of 80 in the 200 individual Medley with a best time of 2:18.80. She placed 21st out of 68 in the 500 freestyle with a best time of 5:20.93.
o Jostens will be here today during lunch to take class ring orders and senior orders.

o Shout out Congratulations! On Friday night our Chuckey-Doak FFA chapter was well represented at the annual Greene County Livestock Association banquet at the Clyde-Austin 4-H Center.
o Sarah Cantrell, Kristina Emmette, and Josh Malone received recognition for their work in creating the GCLA newsletter that was distributed to hundreds of attendees.
o Colton Fleenor received the 2017 GCLA Outstanding Young Livestock Producer (accompanied with a plaque and check).
o Walker Moncier was honored with receiving a GCLA scholarship for $1,000.
o · Saturday, our FFA attended the East TN Regional contests to participate in Employment Skills and Agricultural Sales.
o Josh Malone placed 4th in East TN in the Employment Skills LDE (contest)
o Ag Sales team placed second in East TN, qualifying them for the state contest held at the State Convention in March at Gatlinburg. Team members include: Colton Fleenor, Josh Malone, Walker Moncier, and Ryan Johnson.

The Pre-ACT test will be given to freshmen and sophomores this Friday. Testing schedules and rooms will be placed in the hallways today. Make sure to look at the lists before testing day. Also, if you are a freshman or sophomore and are not on any list, see Jean Smith in the library by Tuesday afternoon so you can be added to the roster. If you are a junior or senior and have not signed up for the field trip on that day, you need to go to guidance to do so.

• Shout out: CDHS Bowling Team and Coach Stephens for making their first ever appearance at the state tournament as a team. Congratulations on an awesome season!
• Katelyn Anguish placed 2nd in the 500-free style and 3rd in the 200 IM. Freshman Melody Ottinger took 6th place in the 100 butterfly and 7th in the 500-free style. Katelyn will be going to the high school championship meet in 3 weeks. Congratulations!
• Congrats also to JT Pierce who won 1st place at the Greeneville Invitational this weekend and to Angelicia Feliziani who won 3rd. Way to represent guys!
• JR/SR fieldtrips: mentors the guidance department has just emailed you a list of signs for students. If your students have not sugned up get them to guidance today! Fieldtrip permission forms due WED.
• Dental forms that were handed out to morning wellness class need to be turned in now. Please bring to the office ASAP.

Shout out: Coach Stephens and CDHS Women's Bowling team for winning the sub state match Saturday and they are headed to STATE Thursday. Congratulations ladies on a great win and best of luck at STATE.
o Two of our band students competed in an All East TN Clinic competition this weekend. They auditioned against students in East TN in state standards. We are proud of Cheyenne McCullough who made 14th alternate and Sam Castle who made 8th chair top band. Congratulations to Sam and Cheyenne!
o Kennedy Owens & Angelica Feliziani for going undefeated Monday and winning TSSAA Regional all tournament. Way to go ladies!
